Pelizzoli joins Lokomotiv Wednesday 31 January, 2007
Reggina goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzoli has made a surprise deadline day move to
Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moskow.
The 26-year-old had joined the Amaranto in 2005 after four seasons with Roma,
and will join the Russian club on a permanent basis in a ￡2.1m deal.
Pelizzoli, who grew up in Atalanta’s youth system and made his Serie A debut
with the Bergamaschi in 2000, also appeared for Triestina before joining the
Giallorossi in 2001.
In the 2003-04 season he conceded only 14 goals in 31 matches, doing better
than any other goalkeeper in Europe that year.
The ‘keeper made his international debut in 2003 and was one of the players
representing Italy at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when the Nazionale
won the Bronze medal.
Reggina will replace Pelizzoli with 26-year-old Christian Puggioni from Pisa,
who has impressed between the sticks in conceding only five goals during the first part of the season
