Both of Flachi's samples tested positive and CONI's anti-doping commission had asked for a two-year ban, before the matter was passed on to the Italian Football Federation's disciplinary panel. When questioned by the anti-doping commission, Flachi declared that he had smoked a cigarette on January 26, unaware that it contained cocaine, shortly after the birth of his second son.
