Sampdoria are the surprise leaders of Serie A, alongside the reigning
champions Inter, after seven round of football. They have recorded 16
points to date, to sit three points clear of their neighbouring rivals
Genoa, who are in fifth position.

Nevertheless, the Grifoni’s Italian international defender, Salvatore
Bocchetti, insists that his side can match it with the ladder leaders.

“We do not feel inferior to Sampdoria," Bocchetti stressed to Corriere

“Our rivalry with Sampdoria will be even bigger this season, but we are
focused on ourselves, without being distracted by any other club.

“So far we have made some poor performances, but then again we do have
several new players who are sill adapting to the club.

position, but we have certainly improved from last year and we will do
everything we can to succeed.”

In a fortnight’s time, the Rossoblu will play host to Inter, and
unfortunately the Nerazzurri will be without two former Genoa players
in Diego Milito and Thiago Motta through injury.
