ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 10/04/2007 The line promises to be long, but here is a look at 10 top candidates for the Cardinals' general manager's job. John Mozeliak Interim general manager, Cardinals. Has interviewed previously for Cincinnati and Houston GM jobs. Dan Evans Special assistant to the general manager, Seattle Mariners. Formerly general manager of Los Angeles Dodgers and in Chicago White Sox front office. Al Avila Assistant general manager, Detroit Tigers. Would come highly recommended by general manager Dave Dombrowski and manager Jim Leyland. Allard Baird Special assistant to the general manager, Boston Red Sox. Used to be general manager of Kansas City Royals. Terry Ryan Senior adviser to general manager, Minnesota Twins. Ryan stepped down as Twins GM after 13 years but, at age 53, might be revitalized with different team. Ruben Amaro Jr. Assistant general manager, Philadelphia Phillies. Amaro, a former big-league outfielder, has been a candidate for several other GM jobs. Logan White Assistant general manager-scouting director, Los Angeles Dodgers. Was in charge of draft when the Dodgers took Chad Billingsley and James Loney. Mike Arbuckle Assistant general manager, Philadelphia Phillies. Cardinals drafted Trenton, Mo., native as a pitcher in 1969, but he didn't sign. Kim Ng Assistant general manager, Los Angeles Dodgers. One of very few females to hold that high a position in baseball operations. Paul DePodesta Special assistant for baseball operations, San Diego Padres.
