Luiz Felipe Scolari recently gave up an evening to interact with supporters at one of the regular Star on a Stool evenings. With Ray Wilkins by his side, our manager dealt with topics ranging from his assistant's hairline to Alex Ferguson's wine tastes to Gene Hackman. Chelsea was there and reports. February 2009 Magazine Charlie 'Chic' Thomson, our 1955 championship-winning goalkeeper who died earlier this month gave his final interview as part of the feature. On a happier note, Marcel Desailly talks to Chelsea about his inauguration as a CPO vice-president and about what his place in the club's history means to him. 'Although I'm moving on and starting a new chapter in my life, I will never forget what football did for me and what Chelsea did as well,' he says. Moving from 'The Rock' to a hard man - Ron Harris, or Chopper as he was unaffectionately known to opposing forwards the length and breadth of the land, is a legend featured heavily in the pages this month. Accompanying the feature are some superb old shots of Ron and wife, recalling an era when as today, the Chelsea captain lived in Surrey - but back then in a bungalow. It was the late 1960s and early 1970s team led by Harris that seduced a young boy in Dublin who would grow up to be a lifelong Chelsea fan and famous novelist. Roddy Doyle visited Stamford Bridge recently and spent time talking to Chelsea. 'Although the one element that really sickened me was the repetition of the clip where he scored against Chelsea, with Ron Harris' attempt to basically dismember the man and failing by less than a fraction of a second! The course of history would have been so different if he'd connected!'
