Goals from Billy Knott (pictured with Josh McEachran), Ben Sampayo, Milan Lalkovic and captain Billy Clifford sealed the win on a breezy pitch, which saw five goals scored in the first half. Three of those arrived in as many minutes as Chelsea levelled, conceded and levelled again before going in ahead at half time. Fulham played well, with plenty of attacking football, but Chelsea proved too tough a test for the travelling side in an exciting youth game. The visitors did take the lead with only four minutes played. Sampayo failed to close down their number 11 as he broke down the left, eventually releasing a ball to the centre-forward who tapped in with ease. It took another 20 minutes of football before Chelsea would equalise when Sampayo made up for his earlier mistake by sending in a dangerous cross which was headed in for an own-goal as Fulham tried to clear. Fulham scored their second from the restart with some clever football. Fast passing allowed them to build towards the box before the number 9 scored his second with a nod in at the far post. Chelsea retaliated immediately as Sampayo released Clifford down the right flank. The captain then launched an inch-perfect cross to the far post which Knott volleyed home with relish, almost smashing the ball through the top of the net, 2-2. Lalkovic then made it three on the stroke of half time. George Saville was fouled at the edge of the box but the referee wisely played on as the Chelsea player managed to push the ball behind the defensive line. Lalkovic then latched onto the pass and calmly slotted beyond the Fulham keeper to give Chelsea the lead. The second half was less eventful than the first, as both keepers only had to deal with a couple of chances on goal. The first for Fulham ended with their third goal as a freekick was sent ricocheting off the bar from 25 yards out. The ball then fell into the centre-forward's path for him to tap home from close range and complete his hat-trick. That goal came seven minutes after the restart; another seven minutes later and Chelsea were back in the lead. This time the goal came from Clifford, who, alongside Knott, had been playing a good game of football for Chelsea. McEachran had been enjoying his role at the top of the diamond, releasing several through balls for Mitrovic to chase, and this one he made contact with. After smashing the ball towards the net, Mitrovic's shot was pushed away by the Fulham keeper, but only as far as Clifford's feet. He then chipped over the line for Chelsea's fourth and final goal. 'The boys showed good character today,' explained youth team manager Dermot Drummy after the game, 'and there were some great goals. 'We have to remember that everyone has a job to do and they showed that in this game. Today we were really pleased with the boys,' he added.
