LAMPS IS THE MAN IN THE NEW MAG

Fresh off the back of Barclays Premier League success, we have a new
Chelsea magazine, but the June edition celebrates the impact of one man in
particular - Super Frank Lampard.
Having canvassed different departments around the club, from the
historians to the fitness coaches and on to the fans, the consensus is
that not only is Lamps one of the best players around, he has enjoyed one
of his finest seasons ever as a Chelsea player.
It is not just his 27 goals this season that have caught the attention, he
has also moved past 150 for the club and become the highest scoring
midfielder in Europe.
'I'm always ambitious at the start of seasons- the first aim is to win
trophies and to personally play well, then to score the amount of goals I
feel I should be getting,' he told the club's official mag.
So far so good then, but how do those behind the scenes feel he has fared?
The fitness coaches have identified him as someone whose extra work after
training has helped push him on an extra level, while the medical
department highlights someone whose innate mind speed and awareness create
a footballing phenomenon.
'I've found that if you work on things a lot in training then you become
lucky in games, balls fall to you,' he reasons.
'If I run up and down a lot during the week and then arrive in the box to
score in the 90th minute at Tottenham for example, I feel as though the
practice has helped me to get that bit of luck.
'I'm always looking instantly for a pass and playing with the likes of
Didier and Anelka, you know they're always waiting for that ball in behind
so there's no point in waiting around or wasting any time delivering it.'
Little needs to be said about how Chelsea fans feel about our number
eight, the banner unfurled at the Shed End in recent times suggests as
much, and the warm feelings are mutual.
'It's massive for me, seeing the banner was huge,' he recalls. 'Those
sorts of things are kept aside for Osgoods and Zolas, quite rightly so,
and it's great to have my own banner.
'There's no better feeling for me than running out for a game and hearing
people singing my name. It's a huge deal and I've a great bond with our
fans for so obviously it's nice for me.'

another of our most consistent performers , rocksteady defender Alex, who
has been likened to the Incredible Hulk in an eye-catching photoshoot.
The Brazilian discusses the differences between life in English alongside
John Terry and Portuguese with Ricardo Carvalho, and the form that has
seen him tipped for a place in Brazil's World Cup squad for South Africa
this summer.
It is a fans' favourite from another era, Tommy Baldwin, that gives us the
A-Z of his Stamford Bridge life, while Carlo Ancelotti once again answers
your questions - telling Chelsea about the time he won 8-2 in an away game
with Milan, and revealing his favourite goal of the season.
