RED-HOT COLE`S SEASON IN NEW MAG
Posted on: Thu 05 May 2011
Ashley Cole looks back over a record-breaking year in the latest edition
of Chelsea magazine, out today.
Our number 3 has played in every Barclays Premier League game this season
and represented his nation as well. It's a fantastic achievement for any
footballer but it only scratches the surface for Cole.
The spritely left-back has been named in the 2010/11 PFA Team of the Year,
voted for by fellow footballers. He was also named in Uefa's Team of the
Year 2010 and the Ultimate FA Cup XI, both voted for by the fans.
On top of that, this season saw Cole named England Player of the Year
after reaching the landmark of most-capped full-back for the Three Lions
with 87 appearances. Oh, and he also reached the 200-game milestone with
the Blues.
'The more you play, the more you get into your rhythm and you improve,'
reveals Cole in June's edition of Chelsea magazine.

Cole's reveals his secrets in new mag
But, strangely for some, after plying his trade during three World Cups
and winning an unprecedented six FA Cup medals, Cole's ambitions go
further than playing in the big games. Instead it's all about winning, no
matter who you're playing.
'It's hard to say when you enjoy playing the most, you go through stages.
When you're younger and you're playing football, you love it and you can't
believe you're doing it professionally.
'Now, like with any job, there's so much pressure on you and you're always
trying to please people. But when you win things, that's what makes you
realise how good it is.
'The pressure is what drives people on. It makes you want to prove
something, to carry on going and keep on winning things. I just want to
win anything because I love the feeling.'
And after so many years at the top, despite playing left-back, Cole's
mindset going into a match has evolved: 'Now I go into games thinking
"Let's see if you can stop me running" or "I'm going to make you chase me"
rather than the other way around.'
Cole may be one of our most successful players in a trophy-winning side,
but this edition of Chelsea magazine covers the anniversary of another
golden era for the Blues when we won our first European Cup Winners' Cup.
