CELEBRATION TIME!
Posted on: Sun 16 May 2010
What a day in west London, as thousands of Chelsea fans lined the streets
to salute their Double-winning heroes.
Less than 24 hours after John Terry and Frank Lampard lifted the FA Cup at
Wembley, the squad was aboard a double-decker bus leaving Stamford Bridge
for a celebratory parade that led along Fulham Road to Hortensia Road,
down to Kings Road and the New Kings Road, before a stop-off at Eel Brook
Common and on to Parson's Green.
It was there where the most fans were located, packing it to the rafters
and making one hell of a lot of noise, not to mention filling the skies
with celery in Chelsea tradition, and enjoying the odd impromptu
kickaround or picnic.
As he boarded the bus, Terry explained to Chelsea TV how he had spent the
evening before.
'I left the party with the kids at about 11.30 and watched the game for a
couple of hours, taking it all in,' he said. 'A couple of years ago I went
a bit mad and don't remember too much about it, now I'm a little bit older
and wiser!'
With reporters all along the route, the club's in-house channel kept
viewers well up-to-date with proceedings, host Gigi Salmon chatting with
Scott Minto and Tommy Langley on the Common, a big screen projecting their
discussion to the thousands around them.

As it paused on Eel Brook Common, Petr Cech told Chelsea TV: 'This is a
great day, I don't know what else to say. To make people happy like this
makes me delighted!'
Carlo Ancelotti was certainly in the right mood, leading the chants around
the Common and thanking the fans for their support.
JT also thanked the fans for their support before chanting, 'We're making
history!' followed by 'Super Frankie Lampard!' while Lamps and Didier
Drogba also took turns on the microphone before a customary rendition of
Blue is the Colour.

Chief executive Ron Gourlay also spoke on the bus, he said: 'This is
incredible, these guys deserve it and I'm really pleased for the fans. To
do the Double is phenomenal and we go on from here.'
Finally Chelsea fan and England player Joe Cole had his say. 'This is a
great day for the club, I'm so pleased for everyone,' he smiled. 'It's a
great season, incredible and all credit to everyone from the top to the
bottom of the club.
'My focus is the World Cup now and it's important my mind is focused on
that, that's where my attention is going to be.'
For Chelsea fans though, these Double celebrations look like going on for
some time yet...
