RESERVE REPORT: YOUNGSTERS BEATEN IN SECOND FRIENDLY

The reserves continued their pre-season preparations putting out a
youthful side against a strong Wycombe Wanderers team on Thursday night.
The Blues started brightly, and after Milan Lalkovic had been denied by a
great stop, striker Aliu 'Kaby' Djalo (pictured) netted the first goal
after 13 minutes, tapping in following a Scott Sinclair shot that was well
saved.
The experience of the League Two side began to show and they levelled 11
minutes later from an attempted clearance then took the lead on 36 after
some neat build up. Despite going behind Chelsea were still creating
chances and were only denied by several fine saves.
Going into half-time the game was still in the balance and remained that
way at the beginning of the second as Chelsea cranked up the pressure with
Franco Di Santo and Scott Sinclair both coming close.
However, the introduction of American John-Paul Pittman for Wycombe proved
to be the turning point. In the space of four minutes he netted a
hat-trick, including an audacious chip, which effectively ended the game
as a contest.
Steve Holland's side are next in action on Wednesday, August 4, when they
are away to Woking at the Kingfield Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
