ESSIEN IS BACK IN NEW MAGAZINE
Posted on: Thu 05 Aug 2010
The new-look Chelsea magazine is out today as the September 2010 edition
hits the shelves.
Michael Essien explodes onto the cover with an exclusive interview, his
first with the club's official publication since sustaining a knee injury
in January.
Now he's back and talking about all things Blue, having scored the only
goal in our first pre-season clash against Crystal Palace.
And our number 5 is in high spirits as he looks ahead to the new season
and is eager to get back to competitive action.
'I've had a few months that have been very difficult,' explained Essien,
who missed the FA Cup Final and had to watch Ghana's World-Cup run as they
became the most successful African side in the tournament.
'But it was good to be back with the team at the start of pre-season and
I'm looking forward to the new season. Fortunately I'm the type of person
who takes everything as it comes and very calmly, and that's what I've
been doing through my rehabilitation.'
Packed full of new design and editorial ideas, the magazine then hears
from new-signing Yossi Benayoun, who explains his decision to join the
Blues and his hopes for 2010/11.
You can also read about the pre-season campaign, with all the behind-the-
scenes access Chelsea magazine can offer.
And among a host of new features is Petr Cech's Family Album, in which the
Blues' shot-stopper goes through a selection of photos from his time with
the club and gives us his memories of each one. A selection of first-team
stars also reveal what they've been up to over the summer in Family
Secrets.
There's a new historical piece, The Boys are Back in Town, while Albert
Ferrer talks about the current Chelsea set-up, as well as what it was like
during his time at the Bridge. Comedian and actor Omid Djalili reveals his
favourite ever Chelsea moment in Blue Day.
Chelsea magazine has also maintained many of its most popular articles,
such as You ask the Manager, where Carlo Ancelotti answers a selection of
questions sent in by the fans.
Meanwhile, the old Fan Chat feature has become Talking Chelsea, in which
three lucky Blues fans discuss everything Chelsea with former defender-
turned-sports-presenter Scott Minto.
To get your hands on a copy of the new-look Chelsea magazine, still priced
at £3.25, visit the Stadium Megastore, it's also available in all good
news agents.
