Chelsea could be nearing the addition of Marseille right back Cesar
Azpilicueta to their summer signings according to L'Equipe.
In what is surely a sign the Blues have made an offer the French club will
consider, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has revealed his side have
received a 'very serious' offer for the Spaniard.
In a further boost to Chelsea's chances, Marseille sporting director Jose
Anigo has already admitted that his side may have to sell the right back
in order to add to the squad and according to L'Equipe, Werder Bremen full
back Marc Boenisch has already been lined up as a replacement.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a right back due to Jose Bosingwa leaving
the club and Roberto Di Matteo's preference of playing Branislav Ivanovic
in the centre of defence.
With the positive signals coming out of the Marseille camp, the
22-year-old Spaniard could well be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the
coming weeks.
Pamplona born Azpilicueta moved to Marseille from Osasuna two years ago
and has proved a consistent force on the right hand side of the Ligue 1
side's defence.
