U18聯賽第10輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2014/11/ under-18s-report--reading-2-chelsea-1.html Under-18s Report: Reading 2 Chelsea 1 Sat, 1 Nov 2014 Tammy Abraham's 15th goal of the season gave our youth team the lead midway through the first half of this away league match, but the home side equalised two minutes later and scored their winner 10 minutes after the restart. An even second period was settled by Sam Smith's free-kick winner There were three schoolboys in Joe Edwards's starting side as Ike Ugbo led the line up front and Jared Thompson continued in goal. Ugbo was supported by Abraham, with a midfield quartet of Mukhtar Ali, Isaac Christie-Davies, Miro Muheim and Kyle Scott behind. Jake Clarke-Salter captained the team from central defence alongside Fikayo Tomori, with Charlie Wakefield and Trevoh Chalobah at right-back and left-back respectively. Ali and Scott tested Lewis Ward in the Reading goal during the opening exchanges, and Thompson made a good stop down the other end in what was an open start to the game. The young Blues went ahead after 20 minutes as Abraham continued his recent prolific form in front of goal, finishing neatly with a back-heel past Ward after Wakefield had supplied from the right. The hosts replied almost instantly as a long ball forward caused problems and Harry Cardwell followed up a blocked shot to turn in the rebound from 18 yards out. Chelsea enjoyed plenty of possession but were frustrated in breaking down a resilient and deep Royals defence. After the restart, another ball forward from Reading was successful in creating confusion and they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. Sam Smith stepped up and beat Thompson with a left-footed strike into the top corner. Buoyed at holding an advantage, Reading sat deeper defensively and looked to hold on to the three points. Muheim had a free-kick expertly saved by Ward, however chances remained at a premium as the hosts held on to the win. Afterwards, Edwards reflected on an improved display but an ultimately frustrating morning for his side. Speaking to the official Chelsea website, he said: 'We were better than recent away games at Norwich and Brighton but we just lacked that cutting edge in the final third. 'Reading sat deep and defended well and we didn't have the game intelligence to find a way through.'
