U18聯賽第11輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2014/11/ under-18s-report--chelsea-3-fulham-2.html Under-18s report: Chelsea 3 Fulham 2 Fri, 14 Nov 2014 Our youth team won this evening (Friday) at Cobham to go top of the southern section of the Under-18 Premier League. Skipper Kyle Scott and striker Tammy Abraham put the Blues 2-0 up after 16 minutes, however a late fightback from the Cottagers saw substitute Stephen Humphrys reduce the deficit following Josh Walker's saved penalty, and then Walker himself levelled the scores with a confident finish from 15 yards. There was still time remaining for both sides to win the contest and it was the hosts celebrating in stoppage time as Jay Dasilva fired in a brilliant drive that gave his side all three points. == Team news == There were two changes from the side beaten 2-1 at Reading last time out as Jay Dasilva and Kasey Palmer returned to the starting 11. Dasilva was joined in the back four by Charlie Wakefield, Fikayo Tomori and schoolboy Trevoh Chalobah, with Jared Thompson once again in goal. Mukhtar Ali continued in midfield as the side's only ever-present in the league, with Isaac Christie-Davies and captain Scott comprising the remainder of the midfield trio. Top goalscorer Abraham led the line up front supported by Palmer and Under-16 forward Ike Ugbo. == First half == After falling behind in two of their previous three matches, the young Blues were keen to begin proceedings brightly and they grabbed an early lead inside five minutes with the game's first chance of note. Palmer swept a brilliant diagonal ball to the right which Ugbo controlled expertly and shifted to the advancing Christie-Davies. The midfielder had burst forward from deep midfield and had the presence of mind to find Scott infield, with the captain finishing the move confidently beyond Magnus Norman for his third goal of the campaign. The opening exchanges had been fairly even but the hosts' lead was doubled 11 minutes later, arriving at the end of another flowing move as Palmer provided a gentle touch for Abraham, and the striker supplied the emphatic finish to notch his 17th goal of the season. Fulham responded positively as Aaron Redford brought a routine save from Thompson and Shane Elworthy's dipping effort from distance flew narrowly over the bar, however the Blues continued to dominate possession. Palmer brought two strong saves from Norman before Abraham went close to extending the home side's advantage, however Norman was once again equal to it as he got down low to his right and pushed the ball away from danger. Edwards' side continued to provide the greater attacking threat as the interval approached with the best chance coming as Ugbo headed inches wide at the back post following Dasilva's brilliant delivery from the left moments before the break. == Second half == Chelsea remained in control as the second period got underway, with Scott flashing a shot just wide and then Ugbo denied by a block on the line from a recovering defender after Palmer and Dasilva had advanced down the left flank, the midfielder supplying a dangerous low centre. Steve Beaglehole's men were buoyed by the fact they remained in the contest and continued to carve out opportunities as they sought to reduce the deficit. However, Tomori and Chalobah defended strongly all evening, with the schoolboy defender particularly impressive at the heart of the defence. Down the other end, Norman denied Abraham once more after the striker had been played in behind by an exquisite ball forward by Palmer. Thompson made a good low save to keep out Lucas De La Torre's drive but the Blues appeared more likely to grab the next goal as Palmer's effort fizzed inches past the far post. Tomori then threatened twice in quick succession, initially thumping the crossbar following a neat exchange with Scott and then driving a rising shot towards goal that Norman did well to grasp. The young Blues looked likely to rue those missed opportunities as Fulham staged a dramatic fightback in the final 10 minutes. Scott was penalised for a foul in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Walker stepped up and had his effort saved by Thompson, however Humphrys was quickest to the rebound and swept the loose ball in. Fulham were then level two minutes later as De La Torre found space in front of the Blues backline and drove towards goal, providing a perfect ball through for Walker. The forward remained composed as Thompson rushed out to thwart the danger and slid the ball under the goalkeeper to grab the equaliser. That set the scene for a grandstand finale with the game wide open as both sides pushed for a winner and, with the clock ticking into a third minute of stoppage time, Chelsea stole the points. Scott shifted it wide to the supporting Dasilva, taking a heavy challenge in the process, though the referee let the game continue and the full-back fired an unstoppable shot into the far side of the net via the inside of the post that left Norman with no chance. The youth team are next in action on Friday 21 November when they host Arsenal at Cobham. == Manager reaction == Joe Edwards expressed mixed emotions afterwards as he reflected on three hard-won points. Speaking to the official Chelsea website, he said: 'We come off and immediately have a bit of frustration even though we got the win that I think we deserved.' 'We did well for long spells, playing good football and carrying out a game plan we had worked on for a couple of days coming into the match, but ultimately we shouldn't be in the position we're in at the end. It was a mad 10 minutes in which we showed some poor game management and all of a sudden not only was it level but we were hanging on a little bit. We're disappointed because it's not the first time it's happened this season but it's something we have to learn through experience. 'We looked very good on the break in the first half with people like Palmer and Christie-Davies making positive, powerful runs forward and causing Fulham a lot of problems. We've spoken about the midfielders chipping in with goals and making sure they arrive in the box so I'm pleased that Kyle Scott got his goal today.'
