http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/01/ fa-youth-cup-report--chelsea-v-huddersfield-.html FA Youth Cup report: Chelsea 6 Huddersfield 1 Tue, 13 Jan 2015 Chelsea's Under-18s booked a place in the FA Youth Cup fifth round this evening (Tuesday) with an emphatic win at Aldershot. The young Blues got off to a perfect start as Tammy Abraham headed them into an early lead before the forward added his second and Dominic Solanke struck a third inside half an hour. Huddersfield briefly reduced the deficit through Jamie Spencer but Abraham notched again moments later to secure a commanding half-time lead. A less eventful second half followed but Solanke did complete his hat-trick and substitute Kasey Palmer rounded off a very good evening for Joe Edwards' side with a brilliant late sixth. The holders will now face a home tie against either Swansea City or Doncaster Rovers. == Team news == There was one change from the victory at Leeds in the previous round as fit-again Jeremie Boga returned to the side in place of Kyle Scott. The Frenchman operated in the no.10 role behind striker Solanke, with Izzy Brown and Abraham supporting from out wide. Charly Musonda and captain Charlie Colkett comprised the remainder of the midfield trio, while the back five remained unchanged with Bradley Collins in goal protected by a quartet of Ola Aina, Fikayo Tomori, Jake Clarke-Salter and Jay Dasilva. == First half == It was a bright start to proceedings and, after both goalkeepers were tested in the opening minutes, the first goal arrived after just five minutes. Dasilva advanced from left-back before floating a cross towards Abraham at the far post. The tall forward arrowed an excellent header back across goal and into the far corner to notch his 20th goal of the season and give the hosts an early advantage. Solanke went close to doubling that lead moments later but his near-post header from Colkett's in-swinging corner flew just wide, however the Blues continued to dictate the game and create good opportunities. Tadhg Ryan in the Terriers goal saved well from Aina and then Dasilva's low centre came agonisingly close to being turned in by a combination of Abraham and Solanke. Some strong defending kept Brown and Boga at bay again, yet the growing pressure paid dividends after half an hour as the hosts increased the lead. Huddersfield failed to clear the ball from a corner and Abraham turned it in from close range for his second of the evening. The 17-year-old turned provider three minutes later as Edwards' side capitalised on their control in the tie and grabbed a third goal. He beat left-back Jack Senior and then supplied a perfect low cross to give the supporting Solanke a simple finish from a couple of yards out. The visitors reduced the arrears with 10 minutes of the half remaining as Jamie Spencer charged down a Collins clearance and his block flew into the back of the net, yet Chelsea's three-goal advantage was restored three minutes later. Boga's mazy run beat three defenders and he drilled a dangerous ball in from the byline that Solanke was on hand to fire beyond Ryan. It was the England Under-17 striker's 19th goal of the season. == Second half == Musonda flashed a shot wide shortly after the restart but the second period saw fewer clear-cut chances fashioned in the opening half hour. Regan Booty had an opportunity to pull a goal back for his side after 64 minutes as his low shot trickled towards the line after a save from Collins, but Aina was quick and brave to deal with the danger first and divert the ball behind for a corner. The Blues broke quickly after clearing the set-piece and Boga led the forward charge, cutting in from the left and beating a defender before taking aim for the top corner but firing his effort just too high. The hosts continued with their bright and intelligent approach play, with the front four all interchanging dangerously and then substitutes Kyle Scott and Palmer coming off the bench looking to make an impact. Striker Solanke was soon celebrating his hat-trick and a seventh goal in his last three appearances in all competitions. He reacted quickly to a loose ball in the Huddersfield box and lashed a fierce left-footed strike beyond a helpless Ryan. Fraser Horsefall saw a clever effort rebound back off the bar in the final 10 minutes while Scott's chipped shot floated inches over the bar, before Palmer made it six late on with a brilliant arrowing drive into the top corner. Speaking to the official Chelsea website afterwards, he said: 'Huddersfield surprised me a bit with their approach; having looked at them beforehand, we've seen them on the front foot and quite attacking in games but early on they were dropping very deep. 'While that was good for us to have Colkett and Musonda with so much time on the ball, it can be tough with that many bodies in and around their penalty area. It's then about discipline, energy and moving the ball quickly. Tammy really gave us that with his performance, scoring two and making one in the first half, and it's always really pleasing when your striker scores a hat-trick. 'We spoke before the game about dominating possession and moving it quickly. I thought, even though we didn't score as many goals in the second half, our tempo and rotation were much better but I still feel we have a lot more to give in this competition.' Next up for the Academy is a return to Aldershot tomorrow for our Under-21s, who entertain FC Porto in the inaugural Premier League International Cup. The youth team are next in action on Monday 19 January as they travel to West Brom in the league.
