After winning the national title at Manchester United last weekend, a victory that secured an unprecedented quadruple of trophies for Jody Morris's men, this London derby was used by both clubs as an opportunity to blood the next generation of youth team youngsters. Originally scheduled to be an away fixture, the venue was flipped at the agreement of both clubs. James Simmonds and his Under-15s, who won their own national title earlier in the season, took on their counterparts from north of the capital in a meeting between first and second in the Under-18 southern section, although our nine-point lead at the top meant any points up for grabs were ultimately inconsequential. That allowed development to take centre stage as a collection of London and England's best 14 and 15-year-olds went head-to-head. The action took a while to heat up but two goals in three minutes just after the half-hour mark provided some life to a well-matched encounter. The Gunners struck first with an effort from the edge of the box that smacked the post before rolling over the line via the back of the diving goalkeeper. However, their lead lasted mere moments before the Blues restored parity with a fierce strike inside the near post from Campbell, the wing-back. It was 1-1 at the break but Arsenal were back in front six minutes into the second half with a goal from Musah, the England Under-16 midfielder.
