LENDOIRO AND BAYERN KEEP NEGOTIATIONS GOING ON
A transfer of Roy Makaay to Bayern Munich could be only hours away as Deportivo
president Lendoiro admitted that he’s negotiating with a Bayern delegation and
some days ago mentioned that “one of our strikers will be sold”. Yesterday he
added to this that he wants to sell Makaay to a club “as far away as possible”
, meaning a preference to Munich instead of Barcelona or Valencia.
Lendoiro is again in Madrid for a meeting with the Spanish G-12 group. This
group of Spanish clubs, to which Murcia were added, want a revision of the
Spanish Liga. In Madrid Lendoiro also met Uli Hoeness, the general manager of
the German club. They were accompanied by vice-president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
of Bayern to discuss a possible transfer of Makaay to Germany.
The president of Deportivo didn’t deny the ongoing conversations and said
about it that “maybe we achieved some progress, but the numbers we want are
still far away”. Yesterday Rummenigge denied that Bayern have made a bid of
18 million Euro, while it is rumoured that his club have offered 15 million
Euro + a player.
Makaay also is aware of the ongoing negotiations about his near future. The
Dutch striker commented that “I expect news within the next days, because
the words of Lendoiro about me or Tristan leaving reveal that a solution is
near. This opens up possibilities to a striker”.
He continue by saying that “I know how the market is at the moment. I would be
the first one to like an offer of 25 million Euro coming in at Deportivo,
because it will mean that we all would win by it. But Bayern are a serious
candidate; they made an offer and now are waiting for an answer. Anyway, if
they don’t agree on a deal nothing will happen and I will return to Deportivo
”.
It seems that both Valencia and Barcelona are out of the race for the striker.
Barcelona focus all their attention on getting Ronaldinho of Paris-Saint
German. And Makaay added that “I don’t think they’re interested anymore in
my signature, as they want to keep Patrick Kluivert”. Valencia aren’t even
close to getting Makaay, as the club wants to include Kily Gonzalez in the
deal. Despite him being an excellent player, his actual salary is about three
times the maximum of what Deportivo can afford.
