Garland liked D-Backs after rejection
不知道為什麼就是覺得很好笑

Just because right-hander Jon Garland turned down the Diamondbacks' first
offer to him two weeks ago doesn't mean he put them out of mind.
"It was still a destination I wanted to land," Garland said at his
introductory news conference at Chase Field, where his one-year deal with the
Diamondbacks was announced Thursday morning.
"I got in contact with (agent Craig Landis) after we turned down the initial
offer and said, 'Let's not get away from this. Let's keep pursuing this.' I
felt like I definitely fit in well with this team and this pitching staff."
The Diamondbacks are counting on him to provide innings and consistency to
what already was a strong starting rotation. Garland, 29, has thrown at least
191 innings each of the past seven seasons.
"If I go out there and I don't put up the innings, I'm not doing my job," he
said. "My main goal when I start the season is to get to 200 innings. If I
can get to 200 innings, you're obviously doing something right to stay in the
game and tack on those innings."
Garland will make $6.25 million this year in a deal that includes a $10
million mutual option for 2010. If Garland declines the option, he gets a $1
million buyout. If the team declines it, the buyout jumps to $2.5 million.
"I think the teams in most years that are among the leaders in starting
pitchers' innings are oftentimes the teams that are playing in October,"
General Manager Josh Byrnes said. "That is probably represented by the
quality of the pitchers and the durability of the pitchers."
