SPN's Jerry Crasnick is reporting the Reds will recall Dontrelle Willis from
Triple-A Louisville to start this Sunday against the Brewers.
It's been widely believed Willis would get the first crack at replacing the
recently demoted Edinson Volquez's spot in the Reds rotation, but we now have
official word. The owner of a 82/119 K/BB ratio in 123 1/3 major-league
innings since the start of the 2008 season, Willis has reportedly looked
revitalized at Louisville, and the numbers (2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 67/20 K/BB
ratio in 75 1/3 innings) would support that. He's worth a flier in NL-only
leagues, but don't be surprised if Willis can't make the most of what is
perhaps his last chance.
