Playing together for the first time this week, Berrer/Schuettler won six points less than their opponents but were able to recover from Lipsky/Martin leveling the match after the second set to edge out victory in the match tie-break after 1hr., 26mins. Lipsky/Martin took a 4-1 lead in the first set before Berrer/Schuettler won six of the next seven games to claim the set 7-5. However, from 3-3 in the second set Lipsky/Martin won three successive games to win the second set 6-3 and level the match. Berrer/Schuettler jumped to a 5-0 lead in the match tie-break and despite Lipsky/Martin pegging them back to 5-6, the Germans took the upper hand again going 9-6 up and sealed victory 10-8 on their third match point. Berrer/Schuettler upset fourth seeds Levinsky/Skoch in the quarterfinals earlier in the week. For the 27-year-old Berrer it is his first career ATPtitle, while it is Schuettler’s fourth career ATP doubles title, and second of the year after the 32-year-old won the Houston title with Ernests Gulbis (d. Cuevas/Granollers). "It's a very good feeling, I mean we won at home, we played well," said Schuettler. "We didn't start so well in the first and second round but then we played really good tennis and, of course, thank you to Mike and I'm happy that we won the tournament today. "It's great, I was in the final once in singles and now I won it in doubles. It's very good to be home, I have a lot of friends here, it's a great feeling." On winning his first ATP title, Berrer said: "Yeah it's very good. I had a fun week and we had very nice weather today, family was here so I was excited. Also that's why I was a little bit nervous so I'm very glad that I had a good playing partner today. I get along with him (Schuettler) personally very well and on the court he's very motivated so [it's] perfect. Lipsky/Martin were contesting their third career ATP final together.
