03 Oct 2004 - Barcelona - Faye Andrews http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/news/newsarticle.asp?id=12667 小女生們好可愛啊:D Spain and Argentina Are Victorious(節錄) For only the second time in the history of the competition Argentina are the Junior Fed Cup champions. Before a packed court the Argentina girls put on an excellent display to wrap up the result after the two singles matches. Throughout the week the strength and depth in the Argentina girl’s team was the key to their success with captain Luciana Benincasa able to rest his No.1 player in the doubles. In the final Benincasa was thrilled to see his players deal with the pressure so well: “The girls really deserve this win. The have played fantastic all week and the more the pressure has grown, the better they have dealt with it. Today J ozami played the best match she has played all week and Molinero really held it together well towards the end. ” ArgentinaNo.2 Betina Jozami kicked off the final in the best possible style defeating Canadian Valerie Tetreault in straight sets. The Argentine had obviously saved her best for last, as the match was the only singles match she has played that did not go to three sets. Florencia Molinero followed Jozami on court to face Canada’s No.1 Sharon Fichman. This time it was Canada who got off to the better start with Fichman taking the first set 36. However Molinero levelled the score at one set all 64. The deciding set went with serve until Molinero claimed a vital break to lead 4-2 when Fichman double faulted on break point, the Argentine stayed calm to hold her serve to make Fichman serve to keep Canada in the match. A tense game went to deuce with both girls giving it their all before Molinero achieved her first match point, Fichman served, Molinero returned and Fichman’s forehand into the set handed victory to Argentina. The delight of the whole team was clear to see as Molinero’s team-mates joined her on court for a lap of honour. Benincasa was happy to let them enjoy the victory and celebrtate at the Farewell Party: “Tonight they can party, the have behaved well all week, so now they can celebrate”.In the play offs for the bronze medal it was mixed fortunes for the Russians. The boys defeated Croatia 2-1 but the girls lost to the Netherlands by the same score. All teams played off for placements from 4-16 and full results for the week can be accessed below.
