The Padres released Castellanos on Friday.
Castellanos was DFA'd by the Padres on Wednesday after slashing just
.191/.221/.339 with four homers, 20 RBI and nine runs scored through 39
games. Now a free agent after clearing waivers, the 34-year-old may have to
settle for a minor-league contract in order to continue his playing career.
