Ben Foster will return to United's goal despite Poland international Tomasz Kuszczak playing in midweek. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has reported no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday's clash. Lee Cattermole (heel) may miss out after Bruce admitted the midfielder should not have been rushed back for Sunday's 5-2 victory over Wolves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manchester United (from): Foster, Kuszczak Neville, O'Shea, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Fabio Valencia, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Giggs, Nani, Scholes Rooney, Berbatov, Macheda, Welbeck Doubtful: Park (virus), Rafael (shoulder) Injured: Hargreaves (knee), Obertan (back), Owen (groin), Van der Sar (thumb) Sunderland (from): Gordon, Fulop, Carson Da Silva, Ferdinand, Turner, Mensah, Nosworthy, McCartney, Bardsley, Anderson, Richardson, Malbranque, Henderson, Cana, Reid, Jones, Bent, McCtney, Healy, Campbell, Murphy Doubtful: Cattermole (ankle) Injured: None ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MATCH PREVIEW Old Trafford welcomes back one of its former heroes on Saturday when Steve Bruce returns to the club he captained to three Premier League titles. Bruce's managerial career may not yet have matched the success of his glittering playing days, but the Sunderland boss has established himself as one of the most respected English managers in the game. Since arriving at the Stadium of Light in the summer Bruce has transformed a side who were without confidence and goals and they head to Manchester eighth in the table and level on points with Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa. Saturday's game will provide a stern test of Bruce's rebuilding project. The omens do not look good. The Black Cats have won only one of their 16 Premier League encounters with United and Bruce has yet to outwit former mentor Sir Alex Ferguson in 12 attempts. United's midweek Champions League victory over Wolfsburg sees the league leaders head into the game chasing a ninth successive victory, with the evergreen Ryan Giggs - who scored his 150th goal for the club on Wednesday - in inspirational form. Giggs, of course, played alongside Bruce in Ferguson's first all-conquering side. Few would have predicted that 16 years on from their first title triumph Bruce would return to find his former team-mate and manager still going strong and bidding for a 12th Premier League crown. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ‧ These sides have met 127 times in all competitions. Manchester United have won 54 to Sunderland's 39. ‧ Sunderland's last win at Old Trafford came in May 1968 when they won 2-1 a few weeks before Man Utd lifted the European Cup. ‧ In 16 Premier League encounters, Sunderland have managed just one win over Sir Alex Ferguson's side. That was a 2-1 victory at Roker Park in March 1997. United have won 12, with three draws. ‧ Sir Alex Ferguson has won 10 and drawn two of the 12 meetings with former skipper Steve Bruce as opposing coaches. Man Utd ‧ Before this season only seven teams have had 18 points or more after the opening seven Premier League games. But only twice has that team gone on to win the title - one of those was Man Utd in 1999-2000. ‧ Wayne Rooney has scored six goals in his last seven league matches. ‧ Ryan Giggs's next goal will be his 100th in the Premier League for Man Utd. Paul Scholes is on 98. Sunderland ‧ The Black Cats have won only one of their last 13 away games in the top flight. ‧ Sunderland have not kept a clean sheet since the opening day, a run of six games. ‧ Darren Bent has scored eight goals in his last nine Premier League starts. ‧ There have been five penalties in games involving Sunderland this season, more than any other team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEADING GOALSCORERS Man Utd Rooney: 7 goals (6 league) Berbatov, Fletcher, Owen: all 2 goals (2 league) Nani & Giggs: 2 goals (1 league) Sunderland Bent: 6 goals (6 league) Jones: 4 goals (4 league) MATCH OFFICIALS Referee: Alan Wiley Assistant referees: Andy Garratt & Shaun Procter-Green Fourth official: Mike Dean MOST RECENT MEETING Sunderland 1-2 Man Utd (11 April 2009) Jones 55 Scholes 19, Macheda 76 Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/8282374.stm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M.E.N Prediction: United 2, Sunderland 0 - United are churning out the results at the moment. Key opponent: Darren Bent - six goals in seven games tells its own story. Source: http://tinyurl.com/yawqjnh ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skysports.com prediction: Man Utd 3, Sunderland 1. One to watch: Dimitar Berbatov Source: http://www.skysports.com/football/match_facts/0,19762,11065_3149709,00.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lawro's predictions Man Utd 2, Sunderland 0. The interesting thing here is that Kenwyne Jones and Darren Bent are the best strike partnership Sunderland have got but will Steve Bruce go to Old Trafford with two up top? I'm not sure he will - if he does, his side will probably get opened up. Sir Alex Ferguson will be able to rotate his team from the one that started against Wolfsburg and Michael Owen's injury won't cause United too many problems, as he would probably only start maybe one in three games for them anyhow.
