An added bonus for the former centre-half is the fact that his defence have kept a Premier League-high nine clean sheets this season, one of which came against United in October. - Having already won 3-0 at champions Chelsea this season, Sunderland will fancy their chances of giving Bruce a first managerial win over his former mentor, something they so nearly managed in this fixture last season, when Anton Ferdinand's 94th-minute own goal earned United a 2-2 draw. - But history is against the Black Cats - United legend George Best was on the scoresheet the last time Sunderland won at Old Trafford 42 years ago. For United fans, whose team are renowned for getting into their stride in the second half of the season, the best may be yet to come. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ‧ Sunderland have not won at Old Trafford since a 2-1 win in May 1968. Their last league win was by the same scoreline in March 1997, although they did beat them in the League Cup in 2000 (2-1 after extra time). ‧ Two of the last three meetings between these teams have ended in a draw, including the 0-0 result at the Stadium of Light in October. ‧ Sunderland have been hit by late goals on their two most recent visits to Old Trafford. Last season, Anton Ferdinand's 94th-minute own goal earned United a 2-2 draw while in December 2008, Nemanja Vidic also struck in injury time to give the Red Devils a 1-0 win. Manchester United ‧ United are looking for a fourth consecutive Premier League win. They are still unbeaten this season. ‧ West Brom are the only one of the nine visiting teams to Old Trafford in this season's Premier League to leave undefeated. ‧ Ji-Sung Park has scored four goals in United's last four league matches at Old Trafford. ‧ This is the sixth time United have been top at Christmas in the Premier League era - on three of the previous five occasions they went on to win the title, including on the last occasion in 2006/07. Sunderland ‧ Sunderland have kept clean sheets in exactly half of their 18 Premier League matches - their tally of nine is more than any other club. ‧ The Black Cats have only won once away from home in this season's Premier League - but that was at Chelsea, while they have also held Liverpool and Tottenham away. ‧ Sunderland are one of only two Premier League clubs to stop Manchester United this season - the other is Manchester City. ‧ Manager Steve Bruce will face former manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the 16th time in the Premier League. He has never won in 15 previous meetings (L11, D4). M.E.N Prediction: United 3-0 Sunderland - Sunderland are a good side, but weakened, and Reds might serve up a Boxing Day treat for the Old Trafford faithful Key opponent: Jordan Henderson - midfielder will be out to impress potential future employers Skysports.com prediction: Man Utd 2-0 Sunderland One to watch: Asamoah Gyan Lawro's Premier League predictions United 2-0 Sunderland Former United defender Steve Bruce goes back to Old Trafford with his Sunderland side on a really good run. They have always promised more than they have delivered in the past, and now that promise has turned into good results and good performances. However, this is a United team that is getting to the stage of the season where they usually kick on. Bruce will probably go there and attack them, but he has got a few injuries to contend with too and it might be asking too much of his side to expect anything here. http://tinyurl.com/3yfwjuj http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/9300437.stm http://www.skysports.com/football/match_preview/0,19764,11065_3283818,00.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/9310820.stm -- ★ ╔╦═╮╔╮ ╭╔╮ ╭╔╦═╮ ╔╮╔╮╭╦═╮╔╮═╮ ☆ ☆ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║╠╣ ║╠╣ ║ ╠╣╠╣╠╬═╣╠╣ ║ ★ ★ ╰╝╰╯╰╝═╯╰╝═╯╚╯═╯ ╰╰╯╯╰╝ ╰╰╝ ╰ ☆ SCORING MACHINE︰ Ruud van Nistelrooy ★ ╔╮═╮╭╦╦╮╭╦═╮╭╦╦╮╔╦═╮╔╮ ╔╦═╮╭╦═╭═╦╮╮ ╔╮ ╠╣ ║ ╠╣ ╚╩╦╮ ╠╣ ╠╬╣ ╠╣ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║ ╠╣╚═╬╣ ╰╝ ╰╰╩╩╯╰═╩╝ ╚╝ ╚╩═╯╰╩═╯╰╝╰╯╰╩═╯═╩╯╰═╩╝ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.46.45.5
