The career .254 hitter and strong handler of pitching staffs is still due about $1.8 million for the remainder of this season and will make $6.45 million in 2013, but the A's are picking up an unspecified amount of his contract. Flores does figure to remain as Suzuki's backup for the remainder of the season, with Leon likely headed back to Class AAA Syracuse after he catches the second game of tonight's doubleheader. He's an everyday guy who's used to playing every day and hitting every day. And as anybody who plays sparingly can tell you, it's a difficult thing to do." Because he's signed at a hefty price in 2013, the Nationals could face an interesting dilemma next spring once Ramos returns from his knee surgery. "We're going to have two pretty good catchers when Ramos gets healthy at the beginning of spring training," Rizzo said.
