Postscript on Ni

I didn't include this in the story this morning (only so much room), but
manager Jim Leyland had a lighthearted moment with Fu-Te Ni yesterday during
his throwing session. As the session was wrapping up, Leyland wanted to get
across the idea that Ni had one more pitch left, but obviously didn't know
the word in Taiwanese or Mandarin. So he just blurted out something -- fuji
was basically what it sounded like. His coaches thought he had been taking
Chinese.
另外個blog也有寫這件事 XD

3. Edwin Jackson and Taiwanese lefty Fu-Te Ni are becoming friends - if the
fancy handshake they've been seen to exchange is any indication. But it's not
all Jackson teaching Ni something new. "The shake is mine," said Jackson.
"The dancing is all his."
Communication with Ni is less of a problem than you might think - even if you
make up some words. The other day, manager Jim Leyland was watching Ni throw,
but wanted to stop after one more pitch.
"Fu-Ji," Leyland yelled out, holding up one finger.
When asked what that meant, Leyland said, "made it up, but it sounds like
'one more' to me."
