Amsterdam Tournament: Ajax Make Short Work Of Inter 08/03/2003.
Inter Milan had no answer for Rafael van der Vaart as the Dutch wonderkid
scored one and set up two in Ajax's 3-0 victory over the Nerazzurri.
Francesco Toldo kept Inter in it with some trademark heroics early on but
the long-limbed Italian international was powerless to prevent Pienaar from
emphatically converting a gift of a square ball from Van der Vaart. The prodi-
gious playmaker then weighed in with a goal of his own by firing a low, angled
shot under Toldo's legs and into the far corner. Van der Vaart's excellent
night was complete in injury time when he broke free of the Nerazzurri backline before setting up Wamberto for the third.
