※ 引述《chuckjr (chuckjr)》之銘言: : Wednesday, May 17, 2006 : BY DAVID WALDSTEIN : Star-Ledger Staff : MIAMI -- For the first time since he went down in Game 1, Richard Jefferson : looked like the star player he has been the past few years in the playoffs, : even a step better. : He had a career night, scoring a playoff-high 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting, : including 3-for-4 on 3-pointers. He also grabbed seven rebounds and handed : out five assists. : When the Nets needed a big game from someone other than Vince Carter, : Jefferson was finally able to (literally) step up to the challenge, shaking : off his sprained right ankle to play one of the best games of his career. : Of course, it was too late as even Jefferson's plucky effort couldn't : prevent a series-ending 106-105 loss to the Heat. : "I didn't want to go home," he said. "I've been in a lot of these pressure : situations. I was just trying to leave it all out there. I thought we had : a good chance, it just wasn't our year." : Jefferson injured the ankle late in Game 1, and was iffy for Game 2. He : did manage to play, but was tentative and stiff and scored only 16 points. : In Games 3 and 4 he scored 17 in each, and said it wasn't until last night : that he really started to feel better. : "There's no complaining," he said. "This is the playoffs and you don't have : time to be hurt. But I couldn't get to the free-throw line. I think part of : it was because I couldn't get a break and some of it was I didn't have my : normal explosiveness, normal quickness to get by defenders. : "Today, it's been a week or so, and my ankle was feeling a little better : and it was the first time I've really done anything explosive since Game 1." : The heavy tape job supporting the tender ankle was able to come off and : Jefferson finally was able to explode on his first step to the rim and get : the defenders on their heels. : But Jefferson said it still wasn't 100 percent, not even last night. : "It was closer," he said. "It got better every single game. In Game 2 I was : just trying to help our team and in every game it got better. Tonight was the : first time I got a normal tape job and felt like I wasn't out there in a cast." : In a five-game series it's hard to think an injury like that could have been : the difference. But the last three games were close, and with Jefferson : finally feeling some strength and certainty back in his foot, it could only : make him wonder "what if?" : If only Carter hadn't stumbled at the end last night, or if Jason Kidd had : passed to Jefferson as he headed into the corner on the final play and hit : the winning shot. Then the Nets could have been coming back home with RJ : healthy and ready to go. : If only. : "You think that, but it happens to everyone," Jefferson said. "It's part of : the game. Everybody gets hurt during the course of the season and in the : playoffs. Look at last year. Dwyane Wade got hurt in Game 6 against Detroit : and then had to go to Game 7. It happens to everyone, so you just have to : suck it up and don't make excuses." : Of course, as he heads into another off-season short of the ultimate goal, : Jefferson could take no solace in how well he played last night. : "When you don't win a championship, every year is painful," he said, : "especially if you make the playoffs every year and win the division four : out of five. It's painful."
