1. RHP Victor Zambrano, who worked four scoreless innings out of the bullpen in
his Baltimore debut Saturday, will start the opener of a four-game series at
Texas on Thursday in place of left-hander Kurt Birkins.
2. RHP Jeremy Guthrie (strained left oblique) played catch Saturday but LHP
Garrett Olson (strained forearm) has not yet been cleared to resume
throwing. Olson will not start again this season, manager Dave Trembley
said, while Guthrie will only pitch again if he's stretched out enough to
start. ``There are quite a few hurdles both these guys have to cross before
they will be considered,'' Trembley said. ``Quite frankly, we're running out
of time.'' Baltimore has 14 games remaining.
3. LHP Jamie Walker made his 77th appearance of the season, breaking the club
record held by B.J. Ryan and Tippy Martinez.
