Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld
announced today that the Wizards have acquired guard Brevin Knight
from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for center Jahidi White.
“Jahidi has been a solid part of this team for five seasons and
his contributions to the franchise and the community are to be commended.
Jahidi will have an opportunity to play more minutes with Phoenix,”
said Grunfeld. “By acquiring a veteran guard in Brevin Knight,
will make our point guard position even more competitive.”
Washington selected the 6-9 White in the second round (43rd overall)
of the 1998 NBA Draft. White played in one game this season.
Knight has averaged 7.5 points, 1.8 steals and 6.5 assists per game
in his seven-year career. He was selected in the first round
(16th overall) by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1997 NBA Draft.
Knight spent just over three seasons with Cleveland before being traded
to the Atlanta Hawks in 00-01. Knight spent the past two seasons
with the Memphis Grizzlies before moving to Phoenix this season.
