Strengths: Finishes with the best of them. JR has one of the
sweetest strokes off the catch in high school. Must make the
transition to guard as he is more used to playing the 3. At
the guard spot he is a very good rebounder at times but needs
to hit the defensive glass with more regularity. Very coachable
and will be a gem for the Tar Heels. His combination of shooting
ability and athleticism is scary.
Weaknesses: Smith's ball handling is not great and isnt as good
creating off the dribble. His shooting off the dribble pales in
comparison to his catch and shoot accuracy. Must work on his
perimeter skills. Passing and defense can both stand improvement.
