[外電] RANGERS BRIEFS
Martin Perez
都幾乎是不能被動到的
總教練 Washington 說遊騎兵可以用其他先發來幫助奪下美西冠軍
Ian Kinsler...

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Word spread quickly through the Rangers' clubhouse that
Toronto will listen to trade offers for former Cy Young winner Roy Halladay.
The chance to acquire Halladay for a playoff run was a popular topic
Wednesday afternoon. Players put themselves in general manager Jon Daniels'
shoes. Prospects were being dealt. Some salaries were being deferred. A
division title was being clinched.
"I'm glad they want to win and they want to see us add to the club," Daniels
said. "Quite frankly, so do we. It has to be the right fit and the right
timing."
The Rangers have baseball's top-rated farm system, so surely the Blue Jays
would want to inquire about top prospects in any trade with the Rangers.
Daniels said that he doesn't like to use the word "untouchable" in regard to
a prospect's availability, but some would be difficult to pry away. Derek
Holland, Neftali Feliz, Justin Smoak and Martin Perez almost certainly fall
in that category.
Daniels is working under the assumption the Rangers won't be able to take on
much additional payroll, and they would have to inherit about $6.5 million of
Halladay's 2009 contract plus the $15.75 million he is owed for 2010.
"The questions are kind of funny at this time of year: 'Do you have interest
in this All-Star or that All-Star?' " Daniels said. "At the end of the day we
will continue to try to make the team better. If there's something there,
we'll move on it."
Manager Ron Washington said the Rangers could use another starter to help
fuel a run toward an American League West title.
Kinsler rests: On Tuesday afternoon, Ian Kinsler was preparing to play out
the remaining games until the All-Star break. By late Tuesday night, he knew
that wasn't going to happen.
The second baseman was out of the starting lineup Wednesday for only the
second time this season as the Rangers closed out a three-game series against
the Los Angeles Angels.
The move had been on hold until Omar Vizquel overcame an illness. Vizquel
made his second career start at second.
Kinsler, who had an RBI double Tuesday but is stuck in a 2-for-30 slump, said
his bat has been slowed by fatigue.
"It's something that comes and goes," he said. "Sometimes you feel tired, you
try to grind through it, and the next day you feel good. I just want to make
sure I'm ready for the second half."
Fans have until 3 p.m. today to vote for Kinsler for the last spot on the AL
All-Star team. He trailed Detroit third baseman Brandon Inge. Visit
www.texasrangers.com or www.mlb.com to vote.
Sunday starter undecided: The Rangers still haven't named a starter for the
first-half finale Sunday at Seattle, and Washington suggested that the
Rangers might use all available arms against the Mariners.
That would include Dustin Nippert, who made his 2009 debut Tuesday night. He
allowed three runs on seven hits in 32/3 innings, throwing only 72 pitches.
The right-hander said he felt fine and could have continued. Nippert also
left knowing what he needs to work on before his next appearance.
"Strike one," Nippert said. "I thought the first two innings I was able to
locate my fastball. In the last two, I started getting away from it a little
bit."
