"We are very pleased to solidify his place as one of our core players for years to come." 同時他有努力實現天分的衝勁和個性，我們非常開心未來幾年能把像他這樣的核心球員留在名單裡。 ------ 心得這筆合約是光芒隊史上為年資不滿一年的球員開出最大的合約，超過Longoria的六年17.5M和 Moore的五年14M，但我覺得拿他們兩個和Archer做比較並不恰當。理由如下：簽約時間 ▍Longoria收到六年17.5M的報價時大聯盟出賽 6場； ▍Moore 收到五年14.0M的報價時大聯盟出賽 3場； ▍Archer 收到六年25.5M的報價時大聯盟出賽29場。樣本數越多，風險越低，相對投資金額也會較高。簽約年齡 ▍Longoria收到六年17.5M外加 3個選擇權的報價時22歲，全部走完31歲； ▍Moore 收到五年14.0M外加 3個選擇權的報價時22歲，全部走完30歲； ▍Archer 收到六年25.5M外加 2個選擇權的報價時25歲，全部走完33歲。以Aging curves來說，合約走完Archer下一份合約的報價會比前面兩位來得低，所以多點錢才能達成協議是合理的。在投手市場出價越來越高的情況下，最近幾年在投手生涯前期就簽下長約的例子不少，但是像Archer直接綁到整到黃金期結束的例子並不多，Madison Bumgarner、Chris Sale 、Martin Perez、Julio Teheran連選擇權跑完大概都是30歲左右，還有機會拚下一張大合約，最接近的例子應該是當年綁到32歲的 James Shields，四年11.25M，含選擇權七年44M相較於Archer的六年25.5M，含選擇權八年43.75M其實差不多，後者總額雖然比較便宜但保障薪資較多。再來要談談的是傷病問題，不能說Archer完全沒有傷病疑慮，但他真的可以說是標準的健康寶寶，自他進入聯盟以來幾乎都保持全勤，就算有傷也只是一般的酸痛，簽長約本來就是一種賭博，這回光芒的贏面較高。（詳見：http://ppt.cc/bhTU） ------ 至於Cobb會不會是下個續約的人選？站在球迷的角度當然是很期待啦！但仔細思考後似乎並不樂觀。困難度對Cobb而言 a. 年底將會符合仲裁資格，薪資勢必三級跳，沒有簽長約的誘因。 b. 以目前的行情，像Cobb這樣的中前段輪值保持全勤在市場拿個14M不是問題。對球團而言 a. 這時候延長合約拿到的折扣不會太多，沒有簽長約的誘因。 b. 薪資仲裁反而可以免去表現不佳和傷病的風險。在雙方都沒有共識的情況下，要達成協議並不容易。如果確定要走薪資仲裁，Doug Fister、Homer Bailey和 Justin Masterson 是可以參考的對象。可能性對Cobb而言 a. 新版CBA裡Qualifying Offer的效應這兩年帶來相當程度的衝擊。對球團而言 a.
