The Thunder will likely trade or sell the pick. If they aren’t able to move the selection, expect them to draft a foreign player who they can keep overseas for several years. Still, if the pick were to actually happen it would benefit the Thunder and Miller alike, since OKC is going to have to make a decision on whether to pay Serge Ibaka or James Harden the type of Monday they'll command in 2014. If Miller at 6'10" can provide a resemblance of the defensive presence Ibaka brings, then keeping Harden (a more unique player) would be a much easier decision for Sam Presti and the Thunder brass. 06/18 (Matt Conner) - Draymond Green / Michigan State http://0rz.tw/i5nog The latest mock is out for the 2012 NBA Mock Draft from Yahoo! Sports' Jonathan Givony, and the Oklahoma City Thunder will have to wait for some time until a lot of talent goes off the board before they can add to their already talented roster. The good news is that Givony still has a nice talent awaiting them at No. 28 overall in the first round with Draymond Green from Michigan State. Green is a strong power forward at 6-7, 236 and is the Michigan State career leader in rebounds. He averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds his senior year and comes with great experience, character and leadership. Givony writes, "The Thunder have one of the most stacked rosters in the NBA, which should allow them to take the best talent available. Green has more wins under his belt than any other player in this draft - as well as the type of character the Thunder covet. He could provide some of the mismatch potential OKC lost at the power forward spot with Jeff Green, even if the Thunder look toward someone like Andrey Vorontsevich in free agency to fill that role." The Thunder won't add an instant starter, but gaining a strong asset off of the bench who can fit right into the team culture that Sam Presti has created in OKC will make him an instant hit. 06/19 - (Matt Conner) - Evan Fournier http://0rz.tw/QYgNi In his latest mock draft, Chad Ford has the Oklahoma City Thunder looking toward international territory in the 2012 NBA Draft for their first round choice at No. 28. Instead of selections from past mocks like Jeff Taylor of Vanderbilt or Draymond Green of Michigan State, Ford has the Thunder taking Evan Fournier. Ford writes, “Fournier is the type of player that the Thunder can easily stash for a year or two in Europe. Or, given the high level he has played at in France, he might be able to come in and get minutes for them right away — especially if the Thunder decide they can’t afford to re-sign James Harden this summer.” While the NBA Draft is typically loaded with international players, many NBA analysts are speculating that not a single foreign player could go in the first round this year. It’s a loaded college crop coming into the league plus a soft international market as well. That makes the timing right for a player like Fournier to stand out in a limited market. The Thunder are also among the teams reportedly considering trading their choice.
