As for Valanciunas, the promising Raptors big man who’s been averaging a
15-7 since mid-March, here’s a true story: When Sam Presti was quietly
shopping James Harden last October, he called Toronto to feel out a Jonas
package. And got rebuffed. Quickly.
暴龍新秀Jonas Valanciunas從三月中開始繳出平均15-7的成績。
去年十月Sam Presti在販售Harden的時候，他打電話給暴龍，要他們包Valanciunas過來。
暴龍回絕了─而且是馬上。
And added this footnote with it:
Our pal Chris Broussard told me this one and nearly made my eyeballs fly out
of my head. But I got it confirmed — it’s true.
Chris Broussard證實了這個讓人錯愕的消息。
I honestly don’t know what to make of it. The Thunder were rumored to be
enthralled with Valanciunas before the 2011 Draft, and tried to move up to
get him.
傳言指出雷霆在2011年選秀前就一直努力操縱，試著選他。
So it’s not all that surprising the Thunder would check on it, but man, the
Raptors must think highly of Valanciunas to rebuff a potential offer of
Harden. But then again, they might not have been psyched about dropping an
$80 million max right after they stupidly locked up Landry Fields and DeMar
DeRozan to a combined $60 million.
所以這次要拿去買Valanciunas也不大讓人意外。不過暴龍對Valanciunas的期望超高，直
接拒絕Harden的交議案。但是他們也很有可能是因為之前犯傻亂簽Landry Fields和DeMar
DeRozan才會沒錢。
Surely it wouldn’t have been a straight up deal though. While Valanciunas is
a nice young talent, when you’re dealing a player the caliber of Harden, you
want the young talent along with assets and in the Thunder’s case, a
veteran. Acquiring Valanciunas would’ve made it more likely to amnesty
Kendrick Perkins, and a frontcourt of Ibaka and Valanciunas would’ve been
interesting.
雷霆不可能直接單換─雖然Valanciunas是很棒的年輕人，但是換出Harden等級球員的話
就得搭配其他人。以雷霆來說的話是老將一名。
另外，簽下Valanciunas的話幾乎代表著Perk會被特赦，然後前場組合就會變成 Ibaka ─
Valanciunas。
Still, doesn’t seem like that great of a trade for OKC.
