TWiP: The Chicago White Sox System http://www.fanfeedr.com/mlb/2011/01/09/twip-18-the-chicago-white-sox-system 接續去年11月底Top 100 MLB Prospects，作者趕在開季前著手各隊農場剖析，緊跟美東五隊之後，美中第一站首先抵達白襪。TWiP系列是以8個守位+5位先發投手+2位牛棚，共計15名球員為主，有別傳統排名，改採各位置的best prospect作概略介紹。至於計分方式依upside 與downside發展可能性兩向探討，簡單說就是預測能養成什麼程度。日前僅四個小朋友獲得John Sickels Top20 B- grade以上評價，『Chris Sale相當優秀、新球季先發牛棚皆可勝任愉快；Brent Morel會是Joe Randa型態穩定球員；佩服Dayan Viciedo打出頗像樣成績，特別在plate discipline如此慘烈情況下；然後我喜歡Addison Reed…其餘點點點… 』，不意外但看完真是欲哭無淚。相較下本文作者是稍微樂觀點，總之，瞭解一下農場各守位概況也蠻有趣。完整內文請點選網址，擷取部分貼上。 The system has a bunch of nice catchers and decent depth at the corner infield spots. The outfield and middle infield don't have much depth, but do boast some interesting guys in Tyler Saladino and Jared Mitchell. Pitching-wise, even though I listed Sale as a reliever, there are three very interesting starters in the mix, although they're all very young and have little depth behind them. Pierzynski, 以及也許是開幕戰先發三壘手的小將Brent Morel，當然少不了兩年前主角Gordon Beckham，另外找來打教Greg Walker 共襄盛舉，領先球隊春訓率先展開為期一週的特訓。而『Camp Cora』便是這回行動代號，Cora似乎很愛替自己主辦的活動冠名。以下是Cora, Bacon, Morel對於『Camp Cora』看法： Cora:『We want to get them in shape and work on backhand, forehands and just the fundamentals of the game. We strive to be one of the best infields in the league and we have the potential to do that. I'm not going to waste my time here doing nothing. They're working hard and they will be ready. They will have a good spring training and we should be a good team.』 Beckham:『This is an ice breaker. It gets you back moving around, baseball -wise. We are trying to get our mindset right for the season. Joey doesn't allow me to slack off at all and I like that.』 Morel:『It's just a chance for all of us to get together in the offseason and get used to practice again and getting the feel, being around everybody. Still likely starter if Pierzynski goes down. 5.Gregory Infante 23 RP Double-A Triple-A Hard-thrower broke through last year. Could win 'pen spot and even close as last resort.
