感謝rresonance兄提供一篇新的A-Rod文章連結。 小弟我將網頁相關資訊轉貼於下,有興趣的板友可以試著翻譯。 板工將贊助5000P幣。 網址:http://kuso.cc/Muk A-Rod appears to be at full blast How many games have the Yankees lost when Alex Rodriguez hits a three-run homer in the first inning? The Yankees didn't include that piece of information in their postgame notes, so I have no idea. And since I couldn't put my hands on the last two years of box scores, I probably won't know the answer until someone writes the book, "Not His Fault: Games the Yankees Lost When A-Rod Hit a Three-Run Homer in the First Inning." Here they are, my three best guesses: none, not one, nada. Yesterday afternoon, A-Rod came up after Johnny Damon's infield single - a play on which nobody covered first base, a much longer book - and a walk to Jason Giambi. A-Rod thumped a 2-1 pitch from Brad Halsey over the fence in left-center. The fence could have grown several feet and there still would have been no doubt about this one. He was asked, after the 4-3 win, how it felt, and his answer was a smile, and a soft, "Pretty cool." In the world according to Alex, you aren't supposed to sound like a superstar, a two-time MVP. He will tell you what's bothering him a lot more often than he'll pound his chest. But this homer came at an important time for him, and his team, so he kept the smile working. "I crushed that ball," he said. "Hit it pretty good." A-Rod has been B-minus Rod for most of the year. Came into the game batting .268, almost 40 points below his career average. And was taking too long to start crushing the ball at the right time. Yesterday, he gave Jaret Wright, who pitched 5-1/3 nervous but effective innings, just what he needed. ("That was huge," Joe Torre said.) Friday night, his sixth-inning home run off Barry Zito broke a scoreless tie in a game the Yankees won, 2-0. Two days before that, in the only game the Yankees beat the Red Sox, it was A-Rod's long ball against Curt Schilling that broke another tie and made Schilling the loser. "I know what I'm able to do," A-Rod said yesterday. And, sure, it's no surprise that "life is great when you're hitting." Too often, the A-Rod who comes out of the players' lounge to face the media crowd sounds as sincere as a robot. As if he has a metal key in his back that produces just enough answers before winding down. Yesterday, we got a different A-Rod. "The fight every day, I like that the most," he said. "I love that struggle. Even getting booed sometimes is as enjoyable as hitting three homers in a game." His first big league homer came in 1995, a month before his 20th birthday. Last year, at 29, he became the youngest to reach 400 home runs. He won the MVP award for the second time in three years. He makes all the money there is. But because he fails seven out of 10 times, or because he doesn't hit safely seven out of 10 times, the fans boo him. He can hear them. Right now, he's close to leading the league in only one category, number of times caught stealing. He's second, nowhere he wants to be. The other day, Torre suggested that A-Rod wasn't having enough fun. The fans "want to see more, from him," the manager said. "We all want to see more. But there's just so much you can do. He knows he's capable of doing so much but you can't do it every time." A-Rod has lit it up this week, just when the Yankees are having a power shortage. Hideki Matsui is gone for a good, long time and Gary Sheffield, in a wonderful piece of wishful thinking, is supposed to return in about two weeks. I know, I know, it's all about pitching and defense, but if you don't swing that tree and hit that pea enough times, the pitchers will be carrying 50-pound sacks up that hill. The Yanks returned to first place yesterday, and have won 10 of 13. Tanyon Sturtze won't be giving away any games for at least two weeks. The real Randy Johnson - if there is such a person - might show up today. And maybe the cleanup hitter has another big home run in his bat.
