Di Carmine, a 19-year-old striker born in Florence, made his debut for his hometown club in October 2006 and solidified his reputation as an up-and-comer by netting his first goal for the Viola during a 6–1 win to IF Elfsborg in November of last year. QPR boss Iain Dowie has trumpeted his arrival, and suggested that the deal could eventually turn into more than just a loan based on the player's perfromances. Dowie said: "Samuel is a young striker with potential. I went out to see him play in Italy and I thought he did very well. He leads the line well and uses his body very well for someone so young. "A season-long loan provides us with a good opportunity to have a closer look at him. "Technically, he looks fine. He might take a little bit of time to adjust to the physical rigours of Championship football, but I'm sure he's capable of that. "What we want is a good under-belly of young players at the club.
