HS Fla. Kubota: He's a very, very athletic kid who is also an outstanding baseball player,he could really be the prototypical five-tool player in the middle of the diamond. He's a guy we've seen a lot of, a guy we really like his athleticism and upside. We feel comfortable about getting him signed.I think there's been a lot of characterization that he may have to go to a corner [infield position], but he really transformed his body,He looks and plays like a shortstop. We just know he's a great kid and plays the game with a ton of enthusiasm, a lot of energy. We have nothing but positive marks on his makeup and his character. age AB H 2B 3B HR SB CS BB SO avg obp slg 2012 Pace Patriots 18 81 29 9 2 8 30 13 .358 .532 .815 1s rd #34 Daniel Robertson 3B Upland (Calif.) Kubota: For us, one of the best high school bats in the country -- just a very skilled hitter with strength, and the power's going to come as he gets bigger and stronger. We really feel good about his bat. Kubota: Maxwell can stay behind the plate. We thought he was one of the premier hitters in the country, in the Draft. We recognize that he played at a lower division, at Division III, but his numbers were unbelievable, Nintendo-like in many ways. What we saw with our eyes kind of matched up with how those numbers were. Kubota:We actually have seen him start two or three times this year.We think he has a starter's mix. He obviously is up to 97-98 [mph] with an above-average curveball, and we like his changeup as well, so I think we're going to give him a chance to start. age W L ERA G GS IP H R ER HR BB SO 2011 Razorbacks 19 2 4 3.62 24 0 32.1 28 13 13 2 15 35 2012 Razorbacks 20 2 1 2.45 14 2 25.2 18 8 7 0 12 30 3rd rd #106 Kyle Twomey LHP El Dorado HS, Placentia, Calif. Addison Russell (1) is a high-upside infielder, maybe at short, probably at third, with incredible hands and an outstanding work ethic that saw him change his body last winter to prove to scouts he could stay at shortstop. Daniel Robertson (1A) is an advanced high school hitter who will move to second or third but should move quickly for his age. Matt Olson (1A) probably has to play first base, and has raw power and some feel for hitting, although I didn't see him as a Day 1 draft pick because the bat speed was only fair. Bruce Maxwell (2), out of Birmingham Southern, generated a broad range of opinions but scouts who liked him saw a beautiful left-handed swing with plus power; the concern is that he hasn't faced much quality pitching. Nolan Sanburn (2) has one of the best curveballs in the draft this year and will pitch comfortably at 92-94 in relief, if not better. Kyle Twomey (3) is very projectable with an upper-80s fastball and good feel for a changeup. B.J. Boyd (4) is a left fielder who can run and has great bat speed, although I don't foresee power. Max Muncy (5) is a polished college bat but doesn't profile as an everyday guy at first. John Sickels: Oakland Athletics: The Athletics went with high school bats early then filled out with college picks. First-rounder Addison Russell (SS, Florida HS) strikes some as an overdraft, but his stock went up when he convinced many scouts he could handle shortstop. 3B Daniel Robertson (California HS) also drew some mixed reviews but showed good instincts at third base and should hit for average with at least moderate power. First baseman Matt Olson (Georgia HS) is a Vanderbilt commit but expected to sign for supplemental money. He also projects to hit for average and power. Second rounder Bruce Maxwell (C-1B, Birmingham-Southern) doesn't excite scouts with his tools but was a devastatingly effective hitter in college and has a chance to catch. He seems like an overdraft by a few rounds, but RHP Nolan Sanburn (2nd round, Arkansas) and LHP Kyle Twomey (3rd round, California HS) aren't. Sanburn throws quite hard and has a fresh arm, while Twomey is a classic projection southpaw. Solid college choices fill out the class, with sweet-swinging Max Muncy (1B, Baylor, 5th round) and Kris Hall (RHP, Lee University, 8th round) looking like particular values. Coolest names: Boog Powell (OF, Orange Coast CC, 20th round) and Kayvon Bahramzadeh (RHP, Kansas State, 24th round). Perfect Game: Oakland Athletics Draft pool: $8,469,500 Top pick: Addison Russell, SS, Pace HS, Fla., 11th overall Synopsis: It's best trying not to guess who the A's will take from one year to the next, because just as quickly as people have them pegged as a safe, "college-only" team, they take a high school positional prospect with incredible offensive potential. Russell shows great bat speed and power potential, and has done a great job focusing on his conditioning to silence questions about his current, and future, ability to stick at shortstop. With two sandwich picks and an extra second rounder, the A's stayed with prep bats with their next two picks, taking corner infielders Daniel Robertson and Matt Olson, both of whom also have exciting potential at the plate. They added another prep bat in outfielder B.J. Boyd (4th round), and added projectable high school left-handed pitcher Kyle Twomey with their third-round pick. Their second of two second round picks, college right-hander Nolan Sanburn, was more typical of their recent draft history, and each of their picks from the fifth to 10th rounds also came from the college ranks. Among the more notable of those picks are right-handed pitchers Seth Streich (6th round), Kris Hall (8th) and Dakota Bacus, and catcher Max Muncy (5th). Late Round Gem: Matt Gonzalez (11th round). In previous years, the 11th round was hardly considered a late round, but that's all changed now, and it may be difficult for the A's to pry Gonzalez away from Georgia Tech. Wild Card: None. It has already been reported in South Florida newspapers that Russell will sign with the A's, otherwise none of their other picks should pose a severe signability risk. Key to Success: By bucking recent trends it seemed clear that the A's were looking for big bats in this year's draft after selecting a lot of solid players in recent years that lack impact potential. How much Russell, Robertson and Olson hit to help change that will go a long way in defining the success of the A's in the years to come. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.34.111.73 ※ 編輯: ThomasHSNU 來自: 114.34.111.73 (06/13 14:09)
