One year ago,Luke Jackson-the No.10 pick overall in the 2004 NBA draft-was just getting ready to enter his first season with the Cavaliers. He was to be the outside shooting threat that the Cavaliers lacked, but the back injury limited him to only 10 games with the Wine and Gold. The former All-American from Oregon had back surgery last January that effectively ended his abbreviated rookie compaign. But after rehabbing over the spring,Jackson bounced back to lead the Cavaliers to an undefeated stretch at this year's Reebok Vegas Summer League.Jackson led the Cavaliers in scoring and assists and looked like the player that fans hoped he'd become. Jackson took a few minutes between workouts to do a quick one-on-one with clevelandcavaliers.com clevelandcavaliers.com:First of all,how is your back? Luke Jackson:My back feels awesome. It was a long process to get where I am now but I really feel like I'm not thinking about it at all.I had surgery in January,so I wasn't really able to play last year.Even though(my back) felt good -it flet fine right after the surgery-but it was just a matter of getting strong again and I feel like,strenth-wise,I'm getting back to 100 percent now. clevelandcavaliers.com: What has been your off-season program? Luke Jackson: Well, the Cavaliers had an assistant coach work me out for about a month-and-a-half before Summer League. And then I played in the Summer League down in Vegas and a week after that, I played in Tim Grgurich’s camp. There was about 50 or 60 pros in that, which was also down in Vegas. So, basically I spent a lot of time playing ball in Vegas this off-season. clevelandcavaliers.com: How good did it feel to ‘stretch your legs out’ in Vegas Summer League? Luke Jackson: We were undefeated and it felt good just to get some good runs in against good competition and that’s what I’m doing down at the Gund right now. It’s a mini-camp and there’s some good competition – you know, guys trying to get into the league – and there’s a couple NBA guys. It’s good competition for me and I’ve just been working out and playing twice a day over this past week. It’s pretty regimented. All the coaches are here checking us out. clevelandcavaliers.com: How does the major roster turnover – Hughes, Marshall , Martynas -- affect you? Luke Jackson: Well I think we got better. And I know the coaching staff and front office are trying to go a certain direction with our team and they have a plan for everyone on the team. So, I’m glad I’m here and I feel like I have a role on this year’s team as an outside threat. And I’m excited to be able to show everyone what I can do when I’m healthy. clevelandcavaliers.com: What’s your goal for the upcoming season? Luke Jackson: I want to be one of the best three-point shooters in the league this year. We have LeBron and Larry Hughes and they’re probably going to start at the 2 and the 3, but I want to be the first option off the bench. And I want to be one of the biggest three-point threats in the Conference. That’s my goal. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.56.133.7
