U18聯賽第21輪精華 http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3681925/ YOUTH REPORT: ASTON VILLA 0 CHELSEA 3 Posted on: Sat 22 Feb 2014 Our Under-18 side produced a superb away performance this afternoon and won courtesy of three second-half goals. After four league games without a win, the young Blues picked up three very impressive points on the road, the least they deserved for what manager Adi Viveash described afterwards as their 'best footballing display of the season'. We were dominant for much of the 90 minutes but went into the break all square after Charlie Colkett saw a penalty superbly saved. Undeterred, we took the lead on the hour mark through Jake Clarke-Salter and two more goals soon followed, Tammy Abraham and Kasey Palmer the scorers, the latter from the penalty spot. On a wonderful playing surface in the Midlands Chelsea started in sprightly fashion and used the quality of the pitch to good effect, spraying the ball around neatly and building up some good passing moves. The 4-3-3 formation deployed by Viveash suited the vibrant front three of Abraham, Dom Solanke and Reece Mitchell, and their movement helped create a couple of decent openings for Palmer, who twice shot narrowly over the bar. Abraham, an Under-16 forward, angled a drive just wide as the Blues began to build up a head of steam. A driving run from Mitchell out on the left was illegally halted by a home defender inside the box. Captain Colkett stepped up to take the penalty but his effort, destined for the bottom corner, was brilliantly saved low down to the keeper's left. Villa threatened just before half-time when a low cross from the right narrowly evaded the striker's outstretched leg, so the teams headed into the dressing rooms level, with just a goal missing from an excellent Chelsea performance. The Villains enjoyed their best spell of the match in the opening minutes of the second period but didn't turn possession of the ball into clear goalscoring opportunities. Mukhtar Ali was injured after a heavy tackle on 55 minutes, with Ruben Sammut replacing the midfielder, and five minutes later we took the lead. Colkett's corner was powerful headed in by Jake Clarke-Salter for the centre-back's second youth team goal. That advantage was quickly added to. Palmer fed the ever-dangerous Solanke who went round the last Villa defender, drew the keeper and laid the ball on a plate for Abraham who finished coolly. Two became three with Solanke again at the heart of the play. The striker, a midweek Youth Cup scorer, tricked his way past a Villa full-back before being felled in the box. Palmer stepped up this time and sent the keeper the wrong way. We had some opportunities to extend our lead even further late on but it was the hosts who had the final clear chance of the game, Bradley Collins making a superb save from their centre-forward to preserve his clean sheet. Adi Viveash was understandably thrilled with his young team's performance, made all the more impressive by the fact seven members of our Under-16 squad featured in the victory. 'I think it was our best footballing display over 90 minutes this season, certainly of the league games we've played on a Saturday,' enthused Viveash. 'We obviously had quite a few Under-16s playing - five from the start, and two more, Ruben Sammut and Charlie Wakefield, came on. 'There was some fine performances all over the pitch. I wouldn't like to single anybody out but a lot of the scholars were very good today. Bradley Collins in goal was sound and Jay Dasilva was sensational at the back. The likes of Houghton, Palmer, Colkett and Solanke were also fantastic. 'For individuals to shine in that quality of performance is quite difficult but a number did. It was a really positive display.'
