Forward Hudson-Odoi was joined in the starting line-up by fellow Blues Marc Guehi, George McEachran and Jon Panzo in Kolkata, with Conor Gallagher among the substitutes. It took just five minutes for England to take the lead when Jadon Sancho set up Hudson-Odoi in front of the Chile goalkeeper, the Chelsea man making no mistake in converting the opportunity. There were high hopes for the South Americans, who finished behind only Brazil in qualification, but they were firmly second best against an impressive England side who created a series of first-half chances without extending their lead. Tomori was named in a much-changed starting line up for England Under-21s as they strengthened their position in the group with a 1-0 win in Andorra. Everton's Tom Davies scored the only goal of the game seven minutes into the second half for the visitors, who have now taken maximum points from their two games during the international break after beating Scotland last week. Tomori, currently on loan at Hull City, looked comfortable throughout but with England dominant for the majority of the game, they were seldom tested from a defensive perspective. Tammy Abraham was an unused substitute. England now lead second-placed Scotland by four points at the top of the group. Elsewhere, Pantic scored for Serbia Under-21s in their 3-2 win over Russia, with four of the five goals coming before the break. Pantic, who is on loan at Partizan Belgrade, broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, and with the half-time scores level at 2-2, the decisive goal arrived on the hour courtesy of Luka Jovic. Pantic started as the central figure in a midfield trio and was withdrawn after 64 minutes. Serbia are now two points clear at the top of the group. Marcin Bulka started in goal for Poland Under-19s as they were beaten 2-0 by Germany in a qualifying match for next summer's European Championships. Mavididi then added a fourth for a dominant England side after the break. Four Chelsea players – Marc Guehi, Jon Panzo, George McEachran and Callum Hudson-Odoi – started for England, with Conor Gallagher among the subs, as they made it two wins from their opening two games. The first half was one of few clear-cut opportunities at either end, but it was England who stole the initiative six minutes before the break when Rhian Brewster curled a wonderful free-kick over the wall and into the back of the net. Hudson-Odoi went off at half-time to be replaced by Angel Gomes, and just three minutes after the restart England extended their lead when the impressive Phil Foden displayed wonderful technique to score with a left-footed strike from just outside the box. Jadon Sancho then made it 3-0, from the penalty spot, as England threatened to run away with the game, but two goals in the space of seven minutes, both scored by Diego Lainez, brought Mexico right back into the contest. Gallagher was introduced with 17 minutes to play as England endured a nervy finish, particularly with a further five minutes of added time to play, but they managed to hold on for another important victory and qualify for the knockout rounds of the tournament.
