The young Lions beat Faroe Islands, Iceland and Bulgaria in the first qualification stage in November but fell behind to the Hungarians just before half-time before Mount inspired a second-half comeback. The 19-year-old scored shortly after the restart to make it 1-1 before twice teeing up Arsenal's Reiss Nelson. Jadon Sancho came off the bench to add a late fourth as Simpson's side kicked off the elite round of qualification with three points. They will now face Latvia on Saturday and Macedonia next Tuesday, with the group winners advancing to July's finals in Finland. Centre-back Joseph Colley was also a starter in Under-19 Euros qualification as he captained Sweden to a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Ukraine. Romania and Serbia are the other two teams in Group 4. The central defender, who had been part of the England side that won the Under-20 World Cup last year, was handed a start in a friendly international which honoured the late Cyrille Regis and he scored what proved to be the winning goal in the second half. In the first half, the 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Sunderland, made an impressive recovery and important touch on a goalbound Romania shot to preserve a 1-0 lead that had been secured by Leicester's Demari Gray. When Gray was substituted later in the game, the captain's armband was handed to Clarke-Salter, and just to cap his day, the Chelsea Academy product was named man of the match. He lined up in central defence alongside his Blues colleague and fellow Under-20 World Cup-winner Fikayo Tomori, but they were denied a clean sheet when Romania scored late on following a goalkeeping mistake.
