He went under the knife to stop internal bleeding and stabilise a fractured pelvis, but today surgeons operated on his right foot, which was heavily damaged in the fall. 之前是止住內出血、穩定骨盆，這次是在右腿動刀。 “The surgery was successful and his condition remains the same as yesterday,” explained Professor Pierpaolo Donadio of the Molinette hospital in Turin. 醫生說：「手術成功，他的狀況跟昨天一樣。」 “This is a good sign, as the more time goes on, the less likely he is to run into complications. If on Thursday he was 1-0 up after 20 minutes of play, then today it's 1-0 at the half-hour mark. The problem, however, is that we don't know how long this match will last.” 「這是好消息，隨著時間推進，就越不可能引起併發症，如果週四他算是在開踢二十分鐘就以１－０領先，那現在應該算是１－０領先到三十分鐘了，問題在於，我們並不知道這場比賽得踢多久。」（醫生這比喻真是太淺顯易懂了…） Newspapers were confident that Pessotto was not at risk, as he was conscious when taken into hospital and able to move his legs, but doctors warn he is not out of the woods yet. “The heavy bruising between his back and kidneys is stable, but he could still suffer kidney failure or pneumonia. In his condition, dialysis might not be enough, so that would be a major risk.” 「背部與腎臟間的嚴重挫傷是穩定住了，不過仍然可能喪失腎臟功能或引起肺炎，依他的狀況，透析洗腎可能不夠，這會是最大的危險。」（不能單靠透析洗腎，就是等於是要換腎的意思…） Surgeon Antonio Solini conducted the operation on his right foot today. “The intervention lasted around two hours and now the anatomical condition of his foot is normal. We put the broken bones back in place and stabilised them with wires. It was urgent surgery, as if time went on then the bones might not have healed. He had some very complicated fractures and the heel risked paralysis. We'll only know over a period of months if his foot will regain its full mobility.” 今天幫 Pessotto動右腿手術的另一位醫生說：「手術進行了大概兩小時，現在他的右腿在結構上恢復正常，我們把斷骨重整歸位，以金屬線穩定，這是緊急手術，因為如果拖得太久，骨頭就可能無法癒合，他的骨折狀況很複雜，後腳跟有癱瘓可能，我們得等上幾個月才能知道他的腿是否能恢復全部的活動能力。」 This isn't the last time Pessotto will be on the operating table, as the fall from 15 metres – which doctors explain saw him hit parked cars at a speed of 60 km/h – caused substantial damage. 這不會是最後一次手術。 “We cannot perform the operation to stabilise his vertebrae now, because the patient has to be in excellent overall condition, especially with regards to his internal organs. Police are now treating this as a suicide attempt and his wife confirmed he was suffering from depression.
