Re: 每日精采語錄
DAY 8
It's hard to find his backhand when you can't get your racquet on
the ball... really, it was a little out of my control.
Lleyton Hewitt admits he did not get the chance to attack Younes
El Aynaoui's weakness.
I hope I didn't give away all the power I have - there are still
more matches left.
Younes El Aynaoui admits beating Hewitt took a lot out of him.
Midway through the third set I was thinking if there was a flight
out tonight or tomorrow.
Andy Roddick reveals a crisis of confidence after fighting back to
beat Mikhail Youzhny.
I mean, it's really a great life. It's a perfect life. Right now,
I just enjoy staying on the court and playing the tennis.
Rainer Schuettler counts his blessings after beating James Blake
in the fourth round.
He fights hard and it's definitely tough to play someone, in a
three-out-of-five-set match, who's just going to run down every
ball. It's very frustrating.
Understandably Blake was not feeling quite so chipper after the
match.
It's definitely very hot out here. It is hard to breathe but I
love it, I love the heat.
Serena Williams has no problem coping with the extreme heart
affecting Melbourne on Monday.
DAY 9
I've put in very little practice over the last four months, very
little training. I'm playing tennis when I'm back home with the
college guys that I coach.
Wayne Ferreira reveals the secret of his success.
I was sure I was going to be better today for sure because I slept
a little bit better last night and had a lot of massage.
Justine Henin-Hardenne explains how she got over a three-set marat
hon with Lindsay Davenport.
No, I don't prefer a five-setter. I prefer to win in straight sets
, ideally 6-0 6-0 6-0.
Andre Agassi refutes the suggestion that he will suffer from too m
any easy matches.
I don't know who will be playing Andre in the semi-final but it's
going to be a tough match for him anyway.
Sebastien Grosjean does not hold out much hope for Agassi's next o
pponent.
I don't know if I served that well but did you see that one at
201? I thought 'wow' and I got a bit distracted by it and had to
tell myself to refocus.
Venus Williams cannot believe her own strength....
You feel like you have your chances, and then somebody serves like
200km an hour. There's not much you can do about it.
....and neither can Daniela Hantuchova.
DAY 10
My respect level for him just grew and grew through the match.
Andy Roddick praises Younes El Aynaoui after their marathon
quarter-final which ended 21-19 to Roddick in the fifth set.
They stayed five hours in front of the TV - I think they were more
tired than I was.
El Aynaoui says his family found it just as hard going as the
players.
This day is the first day that I'm actually feeling like Serena
Williams.
It's bad news for the rest as the world number one starts to feel
on top of her game.
It's like a dream come true.
Shock semi-finalist Rainer Schuettler gets his achievement in
perspective.
I think right now Kim is the best player in the world.
Anastasia Myskina, beaten by Kim Clijsters in the quarter-finals,
suggests the tournament is not just about the Williams sisters.
I still think Serena and Venus are the toughest girls to play.
Clijsters is not entirely in agreement.
DAY 11
"I'm a fighter....I didn't come all these miles to lose."
Serena Williams reflects on her stunning comeback against Kim
Clijsters.
"She just started playing so much more aggressively and hardly mad
e any unforced errors any more."
Kim Clijsters prefers to praise Serena Williams rather than blame
herself after her semi-final defeat.
"I think I'm doing good....the only time I'm making errors is when
I rush myself, but it's in my nature to play an aggressive game."
Venus Williams is in positive mood ahead of her Australian Open fi
nal against sister Serena.
"I could not take my opportunities - and with my physique that
will always cost me dear against these strong players."
Justine Henin-Hardenne, who stands at just 5ft 6in, realises that
size sometimes does matter against the 6ft 1in Venus Williams.
"I don't like to bring my work home."
Serena Williams won't be talking to sister Venus about their
Australian Open final clash.
DAY 12
When I came here I didn't even think about making the final
Rainer Schuettler is as amazed as everyone else after claiming a
place in the men's final.
I wasn't going to pull out of another Grand Slam - it wasn't going
to happen
Andy Roddick on playing through the pain barrier of a wrist injury
.
I hope next year Venus and Serena don't play
Paola Suarez hopes for an easier run in 2003 after defeat by the a
ll-conquering Williams sisters in the women's doubles final.
We were pretty much down for the whole match until all of a sudden
we were up 5-3
Venus Williams makes light of the sisters' comeback.
DAY 13
I think in order to win four Grand Slams in a row, you have to be
pretty serious.
Serena Williams is in no doubt that she deserves to be recognised
as a fully-fledged Grand Slam champion.
The first thing I'll do is go to McDonalds. I want my cheeseburger
with French fries and a soda.
Venus Williams' response to losing her fourth consecutive Grand Sl
am final to sister Serena.
I thought maybe I could do something like this before the end of
my career but I've done it after two years - that's unbelievable
to me.
Michael Llodra on winning the men's doubles title with Fabrice San
toro.
Whoever we play, they seem to play the match of their lives.
Mark Knowles cannot believe it as he and Daniel Nestor lose their
sixth Grand Slam final.
DAY 14
My goals are so in front of me that I can't pull myself out of it,
it takes me some time. I am very proud of it, no question. It is
a great feeling right now
Andre Agassi struggles to put his thoughts into words as he consid
ers his eighth Grand Slam title win.
I think I played a great tournament. I played two great weeks. For
me it was a dream. It's great to play a final in a Grand Slam
Beaten finalist Rainer Schuettler looks on the bright side despite
winning just five games in the final.
She's not too pleased about that, but hopefully I'll have 50 years
with her to be mad at me about more things. Count on me to work
on it
Agassi admits that he may struggle to persuade wife Steffi Graf to
fulfil their pact of competing in the French Open mixed doubles i
f he won the title.
I certainly didn't think that I would still be playing at this age
. When I was growing up I wanted to be the youngest to win
something, not the oldest
Martina Navratilova celebrates becoming the oldest player to win a
Grand Slam title, at the age of 46. She and partner Leander Paes
won the mixed doubles title.
Martina said earlier today that she won her first Grand Slam in 19
73. I was born in that year
Leander Paes reminds Navratilova just how old she is.
