"He played with my son," Adelman said, "or my son played with him." Adelman, who sat out of coaching that year after Sacramento didn't renew his contract, knew Love's skills as a rebounder someday would translate to the NBA game, but this ... ? "I don't know if you thought he'd lead the league in rebounding, but clearly he has been consistent," Adelman said. "I always felt he'd be a good rebounder because he did that all the time. And I knew he'd be a good free-throw shooter and shoot threes. I saw that enough. He's got a lot of skills for a big guy. "Just like the kid from the Clippers [Blake Griffin], he's doing it night after night. When that happens, then you've got yourself someone pretty special." But on a Timberwolves team that entered Monday with only 10 victories, is Love having an All-Star season? Adelman wouldn't say yes or no. He did say: "You look at all the people who are getting extraordinary numbers and you've got to look at the young guys as well as the old guys. Do they get it from hard work and they do it every night? You have to look at the guys who get it done night after night." Wolves hire Lynam The Wolves hired former Philadelphia coach and general manager Jim Lynam as a basketball operations consultant. Lynam, 69, will, on a part-time basis, evaluate pro personnel -- including the team's own -- in a role somewhat similar to Jerry Sichting's job last season before he left the organization for an assistant coaching job with Golden State. He will travel back and forth to Target Center from his Philadelphia-area home. Back at it The Wolves went back to work Monday after a rare four-day break in the schedule. They used the time more to heal and attend to other matters. Kevin Love, Darko Milicic and Luke Ridnour all sat out parts or all of practice because they were hurting, and Corey Brewer went back home to Tennessee for the second time last week to be with his ill father for two days.
