※ 引述《hatoum (french prof)》之銘言: : Hi ! : Sorry I write in English. I am a foreigner and I can write or read Chinese : (I can read very few) : I am seriously considering buying a Giant CRX 1.. but I would like to have your : opinion. Anybody has a Giant CRX 1? : qualities? defects? : Any problem? It's needless to worry about defects and problems, because it's a mature design. In fact, CRX1 is based on Giant's former OCR-Touring (2004~2005), with some minor changes. Both of them consist of road bike frame and mechanical disk brakes with MTB hub set. The major differences between CRX1 and OCRT are: 1. STI controllers OCRT comes with old ST-4400 controllers, while CRX1 with new ST-4500. With implementation of latest Shimano's advances, new Tiagra is good enough to catch 105 class. CRX1 excels. 2. Wheelset OCRT: Mavic A319 with Deore hub (36 spokes) CRX1: Xero Element (24 spokes) Theoritcally, OCRT outstands CRX1 in this aspect. Traditional 36-spoked wheel is easy for maintenance during long-distance trips. Experienced bike tourists can true the wheels on their own with lesser struggling. Xero Element wheelset looks fashioned, however, it is hard to be recovered when it's deformed by accidental impacts. 3. Crankset OCRT: Truvativ Elita (PowerSpline) (Taiwan local edition) CRX1: Shimano Tiagra (HollowTech 2) Obviously Tiagra is better than Elita. 2-piece design provides greater stiffness and less power-loss when pedalling. PowerSpline is a Truvativ property specification, and it's relatively rare. A rare part may cause more troubles when part replacement is needed. (for example... bottom bracket failure by rust) : Any things I should pay a special attention when buying? : I saw it has a package pprice with bags.. How about those bags? good? Just fair. With okay quality and not much different from others. : Any bike shop suggestion to get both a good service and price? : (from Taipei to Danshuei area) Theoretically, "good service" and "good price" are controversial. You have to evaluate how much you need bike shop service. If most adjustment and maintenace could be done on your own, good price favors. Otherwise, go to find a shop with good service rather than discounts. And my personal recommendation: If price is a major concern, go for OCRT. Old models could be sold in lower price. It's somehow old, but still good enough (especially the good wheelset) comparing with latest touring bikes. : Thanks a lot! : I am French by the way. : Have a great ride every one. : Phil -- - Mjolnyr - Hamarr, helga ve veita ok hindra alla illska. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.71.81.91
