You couldn’t find two teams on more different form than Fiorentina and
Cagliari. The Viola can’t stop winning while their opponents at the Artemio
Franchi are still waiting for their first victory of the season. The
Sardinian outfit have had a nightmare start to their campaign and only goal
difference is keeping them off the foot of the table. Not only are they still
without a win but they are yet to pick up a point away from their island
home. With their opponents 100 per cent home record still intact, this could
be a tough match for the Rossoblu.

The Florentine club have covered their defensive frailties with an abundance
of attacking firepower and are currently Serie A’s top scorers with 20 goals
to their name. This is largely thanks to Luca Toni who has hit the back of
the net an impressive 11 times in just nine games, and five times in the last
week. But Cagliari have their own hitman in Honduran striker David Suazo.
While his tally of four strikes may not seem impressive, when you consider
that is two thirds of his teams’ total goals this season, the Sardinian
tifosi must be grateful they have him.

Suazo’s job will be made easier by the continued absence of the Fiorentina
defensive trio Christian Maggio, Guilherme Do Prado and Alessandro Gamberini.
Maggio and Do Prado are long-term absentees while Gamberini is still
suffering from the injury he picked up against Lazio in Week 7. Cagliari’s
long-term injury victim Joe Bizera is now joined in the treatment room by
midfielder Nelson Abeijon.
